Candy Carnage is student film I worked on during my Junior year at School of Visual Arts. I served as director of the project, responsible for the concept, storyboards, Animation, Character modeling and Rigging. Isabella Soares was responsible for the breathtaking environment modeling and Lighting. Yuhang Zhang put the whole film together in Rendering and Compositing. Yuhang also was responsible for the simulations.

During the LookDev phase of the project, we experimented with different looks for the Gingerbread Man and the Gummy Worm. The Gingerbread Man almost went with a more battle Damaged Design with a red spear. As for the Gummy Worm, we experimented with whether we should give it eyes or not, and even basing its appearance off of Moray Eels. At the end of the day, for our Gummy Worm it was important that we captured the perfect mix of threatening, yet tasty looking.

Eventually, we came down to this design for our Gingery Protagonist. While I was originally hesitant to give him a mouth, in the end it gave me more opportunities and freedom with his expressions and facial Animation.
